Writing Your CV and Job Application Along With Resume
Writing Your CV and Job Application Along With ResumeEvery year more job applicants start writing their CV and job application along with resume. This might be the way to go if you're a current student and you want to impress your potential employer. But do you know the facts about how difficult it is to come up with something as fancy as these when you don't have much in the way of experience? Or do you think it's a stupid waste of time? You need to remember that resumes and CV are often designed around the background research and experience that the person conducting the interviews already have. These two documents often come together. When you're writing your CV or applying for a job, you need to make sure that the information that you are presenting is completely true. It should also show the person you are communicating with that you really are the person that they are looking for.And here's the thing. While you may be the one interviewing the candidates, at the end of the day you need to let the interviewer know that they should hire you because of your expertise. And this is where writing your CV comes in.Writing your CV can go a long way in conveying exactly what you want your interviewer to think about you. If your resume or CV is not written well, your future employer is going to have a hard time understanding why you've applied for a particular position. Therefore, you need to make sure that you spend the extra time and effort to get it right. When you're writing your CV and applying for a job, you should go out of your way to find out as much as you can about the company you are applying for. You should be aware of what jobs are in demand, and what positions are being offered. You should also know about the compensation you might expect to receive if you're hired. Knowing this information is a huge help.If you're not prepared to answer any questions that a hiring process throws at you, then you should be prepared to change that. You should understand h ow hiring process works, and what answers you should expect from a company if they do not follow through on their original promises.Writing your CV and job application along with resume are two of the best ways to convey to a potential employer exactly what it is that you're looking for. And it's very important that you're able to do this. So you need to make sure that you do both.

Attention New Grads, Dont Give Up On Your Job Search Until You Read This
Attention New Grads, Donât Give Up On Your Job Search Until You Read This Finding and landing a job isnt easy for you as a new college graduate. You invested a lot of money and incurred a bunch of debt to make yourself look employable, so why cant you land a job? Have you done all these 9 things? What you really need is on-the-job experience. But how do you land a job without it? All you want is a foot in the door because your first job wonât be your last. Although the odds may seem stacked against you without any real work experience, you do have assets employers are seeking: a fresh perspective, willingness to learn and loads of energy. Your strong technology skills are also a plus. And because you presumably have fewer outside responsibilities and financial obligations, you demand a lower salary. Your odds of landing a job solely because you applied online are slim. In order to tip the scales in your favor, youâll need to diversify what you do to uncover opportunities. These nine tips should help get you started in your job search. Use as many as you can to speed up your search! 1. Reach Out To Your School It isnât too late. Many career centers and alumni offices have services you can access remotely. Your school may offer resume writing assistance, interview prep help and even a job board with postings. You should probably talk with some of your professors as well to see if they know about any projects or opportunities. after you move. 2. Check Out Multiple Job Boards There are thousands of job boards out there, which means companies have to be strategic about where they choose to post opportunities. Indeed is a job board thats consistently scored well with employers as a source of hire, so be sure you use it. If you have a specific occupation or job in mind, find a job board that focuses on those types of job postings. For example, if you are looking for a job in accounting, look for a job board focused on accounting jobs. Also keep in mind that companies almost always list job postings on their company career page. You can search for these jobs using LinkUp. 3. Dont Dismiss Employment Agencies Contingent (project-based, contract and short-term) work is on the rise. Employers often need someone to fill in for short-term projects. When this happens, companies turn to staffing agencies to help find what they are looking for. Temp jobs are great for acquiring work experience and getting your foot in the door with a company. Some agencies even offer temp-to-hire jobs, which provide you the opportunity to test drive the employer. 4. Volunteer Since you have some extra time on your hands, invest it by volunteering with an organization. Any volunteer experience can serve as a helpful source of networking contacts. Ideally, youâll want to volunteer in an organization related to your career aspirations or fulfill a role that allows you to use some of your new skills. Any organization can use your help, just ask! 5. Get Out of Your House! Its tempting to spend your time looking online for your next job. But people hire people, and one of the best ways to meet people is to attend events. Look for young professional meetups, attend meetings for groups that support causes that are important to you, or even join a local kickball team to interact with people. 6. Hit Up Your Parentsâ Friends It sounds pretty desperate, but youâve got nothing to lose. Maybe one of them needs an intern for the summer or just someone to do the grunt work. Asking them yourself is better than having your parents ask. It says something about your character and maturity. 7. Clean Up Your Online Dirt Using social media can help convey your personality and style. Thats not a bad thing as long as youre representing your best side. Check your privacy settings on all your social media accounts, and make sure you arenât publicly broadcasting every update to the world. Also realize that nothing is ever private on the Internet, despite your privacy settings. If you havenât searched for the results of your name online, audit and monitor that as well. 8. Stay Connected Your college friends who are landing jobs may be able to help you secure one, too. Keep in touch with your classmates, and see where theyre getting jobs. Many companies offer incentives for employees to refer people for job openings. And, if you havenât started yet, now is the time to start building your professional network on LinkedIn. Join alumni groups, follow companies and (most importantly) connect with people you know. The people you choose to connect with on LinkedIn could be professors, classmates, your parentsâ friends and old bosses. Be sure to customize your request to connect, which must be done via the desktop version by clicking on the personâs profile. 9. ANY Job is Better Than No Job Donât worry if you canât find the ideal professional job right away. It may take longer than you want. In the meantime, get a job â" any job. There are many benefits to working besides the obvious financial gains. Going to work every day creates a sense of stability and routine that makes you feel better. Youâll also be able to use some of your talent and maybe even develop some new skills along the way. Most importantly, you will fill the gap in your work history so you wont have to explain that you were unemployed and looking. You must be relentless in your quest for a new job. This means you have to do more than search the job boards. Actively pursue jobs by finding inside connections, following up after you apply and even networking. You need to do all three things for every job you are interested in. Donât get discouraged, and donât give up. You will secure that first job, but it may not be the one you imagined. Amazons Jeff Bezos Preached Kindness Over Cleverness in Princeton Speech
Amazon's Jeff Bezos Preached Kindness Over Cleverness in Princeton Speech Do Amazonâs employees suffer in a cruel, ultra-competitive, cult-like dystopian nightmare of a workplace? Or are Amazon employees âhaving fun working with a bunch of brilliant teammates, helping invent the future, and laughing along the way,â as Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos wrote in an internal company memo recently? This is the debate thatâs been sparked by a brutal company expose in the New York Times over the weekend. The portrayal showed a Darwinian, data-driven company seriously lacking in empathy, with backstabbing colleagues and harsh punishments for employees who allowed their personal lives to get in the way of work. Certainly, Amazon didnât come out sounding like a kind environment in which to work. Yet as a Bloomberg story noted, Jeff Bezos has emphasized the importance of kindness in the past. In his 2010 commencement speech at Princeton, Bezos told a story cited in the New York Times article, about how at the age of 10 he used data to show his grandmother that her smoking habit had taken nine years off her life. The Times used this anecdote to demonstrate Bezosâs devotion to data, but when you read the full Princeton speech, the larger point is that, in fact, there are more important things than being good with math. Instead of being applauded for his brains, Bezos was given a word of caution from his grandfather, whose wife was driven to tears by her grandsonâs arithmetic. âJeff, one day youâll understand that itâs harder to be kind than clever,â Bezosâs grandfather told him. Whatâs more, Bezos ended his speech with a series of questions posed to the new grads, each one explicitly pointing out that thereâs a right and wrong way to conduct oneself. The last question is this: âWill you be clever at the expense of others, or will you be kind?â Some of the Amazon workers interviewed in the Times piece clearly think that some of their colleaguesâ"and perhaps the company structure itselfâ"focus on cleverness at the expense of others over kindness. Thatâs why Jeff Bezos is so upset, and why he responded to the companyâs depiction in the article by saying, it âdoesnât describe the Amazon I know or the caring Amazonians I work with every day.â Read next: You Wonât Believe How Much Some Commencement Speakers Get Paid Video Player is loading.Play VideoPlayMuteCurrent Time 0:00/Duration 0:00Loaded: 0%Stream Type LIVESeek to live, currently playing liveLIVERemaining Time -0:00 SharePlayback Rate1xChaptersChaptersDescriptionsdescriptions off, selectedCaptionscaptions settings, opens captions settings dialogcaptions off, selectedAudio TrackFullscreenThis is a modal window. 7 Reasons Youre Still Unfulfilled After Doing Everything Right (and How to Change That)
7 Reasons Youre Still Unfulfilled After Doing Everything Right (and How to Change That) Sometimes you can make all the right moves, land on all the right decisions and have a seemingly perfect life perhaps that looks like a good career, a comfortable home, a loving partner, healthy friendships. And, yet, you still feel like something that you cant pinpoint is just off.If youre feeling that way, youre not alone. Youre just unfulfilled. Here are seven signs that youre still unfulfilled, even after doing everything right and how to change that.1. You chew your friends ears off with complaints. If youre constantly venting to your friends as if theyre your free, personal therbeiapists, it might be a sign that youre feeling unfulfilled. Of course, friends are there to be sounding boards for you to word vomit all over at times but if youre using them in this way all the time, its not healthy. What you should do, however, is pay for a legitimate, trained therapist who can help you determin e why exactly youre feeling what youre feeling.2. Youre beyond bored. If youre sitting at the desk of your dream job feeling bored, or across the dinner table from the love of your life feeling bored, or at the park with your happy and healthy family feeling bored, you might be unfulfilled in some way.Its important to take some time to practice self-care in solitude to be with yourself to learn what it is that youre missing in your life. It might be as simple as that solo time.3. Youre never in the moment. If youre constantly finding yourself dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, never thinking in the present, its a problem. It might be a sign that the present isnt fulfilling you enough, so youre focused on other times of your life perhaps wishing youd done something differently in the past so that you would feel fulfilled now or preparing to tischset yourself up for a more fulfilling future.Practicing meditation and everyday mindfulness through breathing techniques and positive self-talk can help to bring you back to the moment and appreciate what you have instead of stressing out about what you could have had or dont have.4. You have a strong sense of jealousy.Comparison is the thief of joy its as simple as that. If you find that youre constantly jealous of friends and family who seem to have ideal lives, it might be because you dont feel like your own life is so ideal. The best possible thing you can do in this case is to stop comparing yourself and accept that you lead different lives (everyone does), and thats okay. Perhaps you need to take some time off of social media in bestellung to let this set in.5. You depend on someone else.Maybe you have it all a beautiful house, a fancy car, nice clothes and... a partner who pays for it all. Just because youve seemingly done everything right in life in order to have this lifestyle you enjoy doesnt mean that you are going to be fulfilled. If youre depending on someone else, knowing that they have co ntrol and could take it away from you at any moment, its a scary thought. Independence, after all, feels fulfilling in and of itself.6. You suffer from anxiety or depression.flaute is a silent killer others may never know that youre depressed by looking at you. Likewise, you might never guess that your seemingly happy-go-lucky friends and family members could be depressed, too. But depression affects approximately 17.3 million American adults, or about 7.1% of the U.S. population ages 18 and older, every year, according to a National Institute of Mental Health Major Depression 2017 study. If youre feeling depressed or suffering from anxiety, reach out to resources like the followingDepression Bipolar Support AllianceNational Network of Depression CentersNational Alliance on Mental IllnessAnxiety Depression Association of America7. Your head is filled with negative self-talk.Sometimes, even if you feel confident that youve done everything right, youre still down on yourself. Your h ead is filled with negative self-talk, shaming yourself for unjustified reasons (shaming yourself is never justified). This may be because, even if you have everything you theoretically want, you might be feeling unfulfilled. Perhaps the dream job isnt as exciting as you thought itd be, or the dreamy partner isnt as perfect as you thought theyd be. And then maybe you shame yourself for even feeling bad about these things when you have it so good.Practicing positive affirmations in the mirror every morning can help you to quiet the negativity. Tell yourself what you know you deserve and why. Tell yourself that youre more than good enough to have what it is that you really want and that its okay that if what you thought you wanted is no longer what you still want.--AnnaMarie Houlis is a feminist, a freelance journalist and an adventure aficionado with an affinity for impulsive solo travel.
